The Balt­ic Connection

Linda Linden­berga is a pro­fes­sion­al video pro­du­cer with a long­time pas­sion for retro cam­er­as — which even­tu­ally led her to get her own Sony VX-1000 and try her hand in film­ing skate­board­ing. In part thanks to early sup­port from hom­ies such as Edvards Gaba­ra­jevs of Rajon TV, she learned fast and com­mit­ted to her debut skate­board­ing film: The Balt­ic Con­nec­tion is a short doc­u­ment­ary film about a thriv­ing loc­al sub­cul­ture; a tale of two tours with very dif­fer­ent out­comes, reflect­ing the moments and unpre­dict­ab­il­ity of the skate­board­ing life­style, filmed in the sum­mer of 2022 in Tallinn, Esto­nia and Lithuania (Klai­peda, Kaunas, Vil­ni­us), with the par­ti­cip­a­tion of Balt­ic female skate­boarders and friends.

‘Filmed on a Mini-DV cam­cord­er with ama­teur cinema style, com­bined with 8mm film and exper­i­ment­al ele­ments, it is a love let­ter to skate­board­ing culture.’
