Ediciones El Fuerte

As part of the Print Zine workshop we are hosting El Fuerte, a small independent publishing house based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that publishes risograph fanzines. They make fanzines centered around drawing, graphic storytelling, collections of stories, abstraction, science, travel, cultures, obsessions, and everything they like. It’s run by Sofia Noceti and Juan Casal, both graphic designers. They choose the themes, gather information, illustrate, edit, print, and later take part in fairs. What drives them is the idea of experiencing the full journey of each edition. From the initial concept to its creation, and then its circulation, meeting readers at fairs, and traveling to share their publications in different places.

They work with a Riso TR1530 printer, one of the oldest models of this kind of machine. They bought it at a very low price from a printer who wanted to get rid of it, and little by little they repaired it, buying new drums to add more colors. Being an old machine, the whole process is much more analog than with newer ones. With each print run, they discover something new, like figuring out how to fix a breakdown, which is always different from the last.
They will have a presentation and exhibition on wednesday 17/9 at 19PM at Paviljon 3 in Fažana.
