Edi­ciones El Fuerte

As part of the Print Zine work­shop we are host­ing El Fuerte, a small inde­pend­ent pub­lish­ing house based in Buenos Aires, Argen­tina, that pub­lishes riso­graph fan­zines. They make fan­zines centered around draw­ing, graph­ic storytelling, col­lec­tions of stor­ies, abstrac­tion, sci­ence, travel, cul­tures, obses­sions, and everything they like. It’s run by Sofia Noceti and Juan Cas­al, both graph­ic design­ers. They choose the themes, gath­er inform­a­tion, illus­trate, edit, print, and later take part in fairs. What drives them is the idea of exper­i­en­cing the full jour­ney of each edi­tion. From the ini­tial concept to its cre­ation, and then its cir­cu­la­tion, meet­ing read­ers at fairs, and trav­el­ing to share their pub­lic­a­tions in dif­fer­ent places.

They work with a Riso TR1530 print­er, one of the old­est mod­els of this kind of machine. They bought it at a very low price from a print­er who wanted to get rid of it, and little by little they repaired it, buy­ing new drums to add more col­ors. Being an old machine, the whole pro­cess is much more ana­log than with new­er ones. With each print run, they dis­cov­er some­thing new, like fig­ur­ing out how to fix a break­down, which is always dif­fer­ent from the last.

They will have a present­a­tion and exhib­i­tion on wed­nes­day 17/9 at 19PM at Pavil­jon 3 in Fažana.
