What others see far, I leave behind

For the opening of the festival, we prepared a group exhibition titled What others see far, I leave behind and it opens at the Brijuni hotel on Thursday 26th of September starting from 7pm. From different parts of the world, we have works by seven artists: Tom Delion, Peter Fettich, Janne Garbowski, Jordan Hill, Brian LottiRicardo Napoli, and Pete Thompson.

The sound of the distance is loud and even though you don’t hear it, you feel it. Every time you miss somebody, every time you ache to go somewhere. You feel it in these images and you can hear it roar.

Matej Počervina

On Thursday 26th of September, we are hosting a photo exhibition by Matej Počervina in the yard of the Brioni hotel. A skateboarder, photographer, musician from Slovenia and the organizer of Ivan skate festival in Ljubljana.

Skate market

On Thursday and Friday once again we showcase some of the best independent brands from Europe at the skate market. Lots of stuff from T-shirts and hoodies to DVDs and decks. The shop opens at 7pm.

All of you interested in participating let us know so we can reserve you a table stand for free!

The Ultimate Pessertive Remix

Javier Varillas was born in Salamanca (Spain) where he started skateboarding in 2001. It was in 2007 when Varillas sparked an interest in documenting the life and travels of skateboarders, this is when his journey as an amateur skateboard videographer began. In 2011, his first independent skate video Harder Than It Seems was released, where Varillas showed the incipient state of his audiovisual style. His second full-length, Každýden, came in 2016. This video documented the skateboarding and life of the emerging (and genuine) Pilsen’s Pessertive Crew from 2014 to 2016. During the last two years of his stay in Pilsen (2017-2018), Javier Varillas filmed (with the help of Michal Majer) and conceptualized his new independent skateboard video, The Ultimate Pessertive Remix. The video captures skating by Martin Meliš, Filip Sauer, Javier Varillas, Pavel Hiršl, Michal Majer, Lumír Benda, and Jakub Karlík, and is shot by Javier Varillas and Michal Majer with a Panasonic SDR camcorder.

The 20-minute skate video collects the day-and-night highlights of the Pilsen’s Pessertive Crew and their supporting squad (Pessertivity). The conceptual content is separated into 6 remixed, interconnected sections that meticulously intertwine contemporary bits with the rough sound and movement of street and DIY skating, where creativity and spontaneity are the fundamental audiovisual and skateboarding the identity of the entire film.

The Ultimate Pessertive Remix displays a fresh portrait of not only the Pilsen skate scene but also of the currently healthy state of independent Czech (and European) skateboarding.

Check it out on Thursday 26th at the Brioni Hotel in Fažana starting from 8pm.

Ciao by Ricardo Napoli

The diversity of styles, personalities, and cultures in NYC are what makes skateboarding here exceptional. Ricardo Napoli’s video Ciao, filmed entirely in New York, is dedicated to the creative minds from the five boroughs and across the globe who make this city what it is.

Ricardo Napoli is a Brazilian born photographer and videographer who has called New York City home since a young age. His work over more than a decade of shooting professionally spans from fashion and commercial photography/videography to documentation of works by premier contemporary artists, but his roots stemming from skateboarding run deep and it is a constant source of inspiration for his independent projects. His works can be seen in books and magazine publications worldwide, he has also supplied visual goods for major sneakers and skateboard brands.

Thursday 26th at the Brioni hotel in Fažana. See you there!

10 years of To Ni Hec video

Obsession 2009, Tomaž Šantl‘s To Ni Hec is one of the most influential skate videos in Balkan 2000s era. An amazing skating with an even more amazing soundtrack with the Film crew packed all together. We can’t choose a better place to celebrate its 10th birthday right here on Vladimir.

History will be written again on the 26th of September on Thursday night at the hotel Brioni in Fažana.
